Extrait du générique de Fringe

When JJ Abrams decided to entrust Andrew Kramer with the main title of his new series, Fringe, he proves that he is a man of intuition. In this enigmatic title sequence, Kramer continues his experiments creating a journey deep inside the mystery which is a key element of the series. A successful collaboration as he worked again on Star Trek.

Fringe follows the investigations of FBI Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) followed by Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson) and his father Walter Bishop (John Noble), a mad scientist of whom he is the guardian . A shifted trio able to resolve fringe investigations in a fantastic world where genetic engineering and oddities of nature abound (against a background of conspiracy inspired by The X-Files). Far from repeating the stunt - bluff? - of Lost, Abrams maintains interest by a certain freshness to the level of intrigue.

One of the episodes of season 2 takes place in 1985. The producers asked Andrew Kramer to recreate a 1980 version of the title sequence. "They wanted to include science concepts that would have seemed cutting-edge at the time, such as “Personal Computing” and “Stealth Technology”, and it was my job was to make it look like Atari!", says Kramer. No Particular or Optical Flares in this condition, but the result is convincing. All the emblematic characteristics of the 80's are there: pixels, synthetizer, round typography, electronic networking, Tron's influence, etc. It's fascinating to see the creator of VideoCopilot creatively evolving and simultaneously making tutorials (VideoCopilot became an institution revered by After Effects aficionados for its many high quality tutorials). A quickly career always conducts with great humor and a childlike spirit.

Watch original title sequence, followed by the 1985 version.
