Olivia Ruiz’s latest music video « Belle à en Crever » was directed by NoBrain. The fluid style and the "flower" note of the collective quickly embark us into the singer’s world (reminiscent of the Emilie Simon’s "Fleur de Saison" music video). NoBrain shoots Emilie and Olivia with the same intensity, between delicacy (they are both draped - initially - in a thin leaf //a kind of pupa for the first one and a virginal white sheet for the other) and sensuality (incarnation of the female muse in all her splendor. Emilie Simon dresses with a thousand bloom like a flower, and Olivia Ruiz reveals a cartoon alter-ego who has an explosive temper). The plant and floral environments correspond with each other but in different graphics styles: natural and pastel tones correspond with the 4 seasons for beautiful Emilie and a nice balance of red and black for spicy Olivia. Some very Dionysian characters also introduce themsleves in Miss Ruiz's feast (from La Mécanique du coeur, an album released in 2007 by the french band Dyonisos in which Olivia Ruiz interpreted some songs with Mathias Malzieu). She also embodied a character in "Tais-Toi mon Coeur" music video directed by Stephane Berla (LN. Prod.) who moves in a weird universe, subtil blend of Pinocchio (wooden characters, clockwork mechanisms, etc) and Burton-Selick’s The Nightmare before Christmas (stop-motion puppet animation, the dark side of the world). Stephane Berla had already used the theme of the animated puppet in the Dionysos’ "Neige" video concocted a few years ago. He's currently working on the film adaptation of Mathias Malzieu’s “La Mécanique du Cœur » book. Director : NoBrain NoBrain - Olivia Ruiz "Belle à en crever" from charles KERAMOAL on Vimeo. |
